Me and Josh will be using a Zoom H4N and the Audio Technica AT8015. We will be recording using the mono sound effect due to recording sound effects which are mainly omni-directional, and recording in stereo wouldn't be very beneficial for the sounds we're recording. We will be recording the sounds out in the field. The two parks we're vising are the Cholerea monument and the Crookes Valley park in Sheffield. We will have two recording sessions. The first at the monument to collect sound effects for the sound effects heard in the morning at a park. The second session will be to record sound effects which are heard later on in a park (afternoon and night time).
Our recording list:
MORNING SOUND EFFECTS: To be recorded on October 22nd 2015 at Cholera Monument Sheffield:
- Background noise (wind, trees swaying) (3 minutes)
- Leaves rustling (10 seconds)
- Walking through leaves (3 seconds)
- Jogger on concrete (2 seconds)
- Hitting the park railings with a stick (6 seconds)
- Walking through gravel (4 seconds)
- Swings swaying (12 seconds)
- Cracking a branch (3 seconds)
- Sliding down a slide (10 seconds)
The sounds for October 22nd 2015 have been recorded, and edited into the sound file. So far these sounds allowed us to edit the first minute of the soundfile, which is the morning sounds heard in a park. We now need to collect sounds for the afternoon and nighttime of the park sound file.
AFTERNOON AND NIGHTTIME SOUND EFFECTS: To be recorded on 11th November 2015 at Crookes Valley Park Sheffield:
- Water fountain (10 seconds)
- Crowds of people (1:30)
- Kids playing at a park (from distance) (30 seconds)
- Ducks (2:01)
- Birds tweeting (10 seconds)
- Drunken teenagers (2 seconds)
- Skateboarding (1:31)
- Dog barking (2 seconds)
- Bicycle (3 seconds)
- Football being played (33 seconds)
The editing of the sound file will be done and completed by Tom and Josh on the 12th November 2015 on Sony Vegas Pro 12.
The sound file will be rendered as a .wav file on to a USB stick ready to be presented on 16th November 2015. The sound file will also be uploaded on to the blog.
We will then begin planning for the video footage.
